The Warm and Fuzzy Liquors
Many festive drinks during the holiday season involve, rich, dark liquors. These spirits contain a higher content level of “cogeners”, which is a substance that is occurs naturally in the barrel aging fermentation process and contains an array of chemicals and compounds. We can thank Cogeners for giving you that almost immediate warm and fuzzy feeling when drank, hence why they are the preferred base of choice for winter cocktails.
Dark liquors and wines, such as brandy, bourbon, rum, and red wines, have exceptionally high antioxidant levels than others. When taken in moderation, light daily consumption of these drinks can have a very beneficial impact on controlling cholesterol levels and lowering blood pressure. The conception of other antioxidants along with these drinks can also lead to better results. Dark chocolate, stated in previous blogs, is high in antioxidants and pairs beautifully with dark liquors and red wines. It is for this reason that we’ve chosen to use it as the main ingredient of our Probiotic Bites!
